Take a trip back in time.

The Homestead is set on two hectares in a rural setting on Wyong’s first land grant dating back to 1825.

In the Homestead and other buildings onsite there are displays of memorabilia, photos, furniture, toys and other household items, equipment, machinery and tools all relating to the early settling of Wyong and surrounds.  There is an old slab hut which was part of Yarramalong Public School with displays of furniture, equipment, books, maps and memorabilia relating to the history of early school days in the area.

School groups are very welcome to visit us for a day of fun history.  We can arrange a variety of demonstrations and activities for your group. The children can bring their morning tea and lunch and have a picnic in the gardens. We can supply cool drinks, ice blocks, tea, coffee and cake at a small extra charge.

The venue is perfect for club and group outings, weddings, functions, meetings, workshops, events, fairs, markets, car boot sales. We have plenty of parking and a variety of entertaining areas enclosed, outdoor, covered and uncovered. We can provide morning tea, light lunches or a bbq for group bookings. See our Food Menu page for selection of meals available.

There is a picnic area with BBQs available for self catering. Our outdoor areas are dog friendly.

The Museum and grounds are wheelchair/walker friendly with accessible facilities

The Homestead is managed and operated by volunteers.  New volunteers are always welcome.  See the Join Us page for details of the variety of roles available.  We would love to have you join us for as little or as much time as you have to spare.

Our Plant Nursery has a large variety of plants for sale.

Alison Homestead Men’s Shed operates onsite. The members are involved in assisting the Homestead, special interest and community projects.  New members are always welcome.

There is an extensive library containing many historical books as well as files containing over 20,000 historical photos available for sale and research purposes.

We have a variety of brochures from other tourist attractions on the coast, Cartoscope maps and Your Guide Central Coast bi monthly magazine available for our visitors.

Something for everyone.

Come and have a look!

We are located 3 minutes from the M1 Tuggerah Interchange via Old Maitland Rd or 2kms west of the town near the Alison Rd/M1 overpass via the Pacific Highway & Alison Rd.  Follow our signs.   See the Contact Us page for a map.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – FOOD PREPARATION

We are urgently in need of volunteers who would like to join our team. We are looking for anyone who would be interested in helping with the preparation and serving of our devonshire teas and light lunches (eg. sandwiches, quiches, chicken and salads) for small group bookings.

No qualifications are required and times are flexible to suit each volunteer.

See our Menu/Venue Hire Page to see what we serve.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – GARDEN MAINTENANCE

We would like to hear from anyone with an interest in gardening who might like to join the team. Mowing and upkeep of the garden areas is an important part of the work undertaken by the team of volunteers who manage, operate and maintain the property as a venue for the community and visitors to the area.

If you’d like more info or to arrange a visit, please email us at: info@alisonhomestead.com.au with your best contact details and we’ll get back to you.

Are you looking for somewhere peaceful to catch up with family or friends?

Alison Homestead could be the ideal place – away from all the crowds – set in a tranquil country location, but close to town. You can bring your own food and have a picnic or a bbq or we can provide a variety of different menu choices. We have 2 areas available. An undercover area with drop down blinds to keep out the weather if necessary and heating for winter, or an outside courtyard with a marquee with or without side panels depending on preference. The marquee can be set up as extra space if necessary to become part of the undercover area.

See our Gallery page for pictures of the eating areas.
